Get The Look – Pixie Geldof

news1_0With a cute blonde crop and distinctive style, Pixie Geldof is becoming a major fashion icon on London’s party scene. She manages to create a unique image with her smoky eyes and nude lips. Here at Beauty or Bust we thought we would have a go at re-creating her look. So here goes:

Step One: Start with a nice dewey base by using a medium coverage foundation. Try MAC Foundation Select SPF Moistureblend and make sure you apply it with a dry sponge to get even coverage.

Step Two: Use a shimmer and highlighter on the cheeks, such as Stilla All Over Shimmer Liquid Liminizer.

Step Three: The eyes are the main feature of this look, so use a nice smudgy kohl pencil. Try Maybelline Expert Eyes Kohl Pencil. Apply all around the outside of the eye and the top part of the eyelid. Use a light eyeshadow as a base and then apply a black shadow such as MAC  Eyeshadow in Black Tied around the outside of the corners of the eye. Finish with mascara like Great Lash by Maybelline.

Step Four: Use a very pale pink lipstick to finish off the look. We recomend Bobbi Brown Lip Sheer in Bare

Fashion Week – Spring 2009 Looks!

Threeasfour Spring ’09 Show

The Threeasfour show was all about classic updo’s and pretty coral makeup. MAC Cosmetics’ vice president of makeup artistry, Gordon Espinet first applied equal parts MAC Face and Body Foundation and MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion to the models’ faces to even out their skintones and give them a little glow. Next, he blended MAC Cream Colour Base in Virgin Isle (a bright coral color) to their cheekbones, up toward the temple. To minimize shine, Espinet applied MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (a mineral-based matte powder) to the T-zone. The eyes were left untouched, and the brows finished with MAC Brow Set in Girl Boy. A little Tinted Lip Conditioner in Gentle Coral finished the look! Que bella!

Get Those Brows in Shape

You know the deal – your brows are becoming so heavy, they are beginning to make your eyes look deep set and there are stray hairs all over the place. Now is the time to start figuring out how to get them in shape. There are many different ways to do this – waxing, plucking or threading. I personally prefer plucking as I feel I have more control over it. All three are fairly inexpensive ways to look after them. However, getting the shape right is the most important thing. Eyebrows should always follow the natural shape and thickness of your brows. After many years of experimenting I have discovered that thicker brows are always best, the only thing you need to do is simply get rid of any stray hairs. Eyebrows should always have a thicker part at the front, with the thinnest part at the end. If you are unsure about where your eyebrows should finish, hold up a long brush diagonally from your nose to the corner of your eye – where it stops on the brow bone is where your eyebrows should stop. One final thing – always pluck from underneath the brow as this keeps the general shape of the brows intact. Have fun and remember not to go too crazy. The last thing you want is to start having to draw in parts of your eyebrows!

Overplucked eyebrows add years to your face.
