Who’s up for a little window shopping?

I. Love. Makeup. There, I said it (as if it wasn’t obvious!).  But I don’t have the funds to shop to my heart’s content.  So what’s a girl to do? Window shop of course.  And with a new season comes new makeup colors and textures, and skincare innovations to make you drool.  Here are my current cravings, courtesy of beauty mecca, Sephora.  Get inspired!

Josie Maran R.E.M Pen – Rapid Eye Makeup Pen – A sleek, pen-shaped component that contains an Argan Gel Liner with brush and a coordinating Argan Eye Shadow shade for a perfect on-the-go eye. Josie’s signature ingredient argan oil is infused to give both the gel liner and the eye shadow antiaging benefits.  I love multi-tasking products, and this one is no exception.  Josie also makes fabulous lip glosses that leave lips moisturized, not sticky.  Plus 1 for natural beauty! $32

Skincare Advice from a Board-Certified Dermatologist

With the exception of the blessed few, we’ve all found ourselves desperate for clearer skin and a miracle cure that can make it happen.  Ask me about a skincare brand, and chances are, if it’s for acne-prone skin, I’ve tried it.  But some skincare problems require a visit to the dermatologist, which can be costly.  If you’d like skincare advice, but can’t pay to see a dermatologist, check out this list of skin aggravators AND myths below, courtesy of Dr. Sandra Lee, board-certified dermatologist.

Skin Aggravators

Trying to scrub away acne: Acne is not a hygiene problem; it’s a hormonal issue. Excessively cleaning your face won’t get rid of acne. Instead of attempting to scrub your pimple-prone skin into submission, wash it gently with a foaming face wash that’s designed to lift off dirt without irritating skin. And if you do feel compelled to enlist a scrub, use it no more than once a week, choosing a product that has even-sized, round beads, not rough particles.

The difference six months can make

Hey bobbers,

It’s been almost six months since my last post, and since then, a LOT has changed.  I earned my teaching credential, found out I’m going to be an aunt, and got married! My husband and I have been together for almost ten years, and though I always knew we would get married, nothing can explain the feeling I had walking down the aisle to make it official. I love being a missus!

The week of the wedding, my skin broke out something fierce.  I purchased a Groupon for a facial, but when I called for an appointment, I found out the facialist was out of town on vacation! In a panic, I contacted my friend Anna, and she recommended Jun’s Beauty Salon in San Francisco (http://www.yelp.com/biz/juns-beauty-salon-san-francisco).  For $80, Jun gave me an extremely thorough two-hour facial that left my skin significantly clearer within two days.  Anna (and Jun), you saved my skin! :)
