Shop for a Cause

By October 6th, 2009

As I mentioned before, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  In this tough economy, it can be hard to donate, so why not kill two birds with one stone? Many companies are offering limited edition beauty products for sale, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research. Here’s a list of companies pitching in for breast cancer research:

Smashbox’s Photo Finish Lipstick to Benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure

This limited-edition lipstick in our best-selling babydoll pink shade is a beautiful way to give back. 40% of the proceeds benefit the Los Angeles County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards, and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. (Retails for $22).

Origins’ Peace of Mind On-the-spot relief

When the world closes in on you and your head feels a size too small, apply just two dabs of Origins mind-clearing formula on the back of your neck, temples and earlobes.  You’ll feel a tingling sensation as pressure, tension and tightness begin to melt away.  Proceeds benefit breast cancer research.  (Retails for $10)

Jurlique’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer skincare set

In conjunction with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC), a program of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Jurlique is joining the fight against breast cancer, raising awareness and funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Their Fashion Targets Breast Cancer set includes Citrus Purifying Mist, Sun Lotion SPF 30, Citrus Silk Finishing Powder, Citrus Hand Cream, and Purely Age Defying Day Cream, SPF 15. (Retails for $138).

Afterglow Cosmetics’ Lip Love Lipstick in Muse

For every purchase of Afterglow Cosmetics’ organic Lip Love Lipstick in Muse, the company donates $2 to the Young Survivors Coalition. Organic Lip Love lipsticks do exactly what they say – they love your lips in every way. Organic aloe vera and biodynamic organic oils moisturize, condition and protect your lips from the elements.  (Retails for $22).

In October and November, Suki will donate 100% of the sale proceeds of its Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser and Sensitive Cleansing Bar to the Think Before You Pink campaign, which strives to decrease environmental exposure to chemicals that may cause breast cancer.
