Chocolate Lovers Rejoice!

March 30th, 2010

Now, you know I’m a chocolate lover.  It’s rare I meet someone who doesn’t love the dark, tantalizing, treat.  But who says cocoa is just for eating?  Chocolate is well-known to support the circulatory system, and it’s been suggested that the dark variety can even help protect against cancer.

But did you know chocolate can improve the texture of your hair? Well, that’s just what NuNaat’s Chocolat Cream Mask does.  This serious moisture-booster is formulated with cocoa butter and brazil nut oils, and penetrates deep for the ultimate conditioning experience. Specifically created for hair damaged by harsh elements and chemical treatments, this mask provides deep and restorative conditioning to leave your hair soft and silky.  I use this bad boy anytime my hair feels particularly dry and coarse, and it’s left silky smooth and moisturized! It even makes it more manageable. My only complaint is that the mask comes in a tub, which can be rather messy.  A squeeze bottle would be more sanitary and convenient.  Still, at just $6.99, what do you have to lose?

Where to find it: NuNaat’s Chocolat Cream Mask can be purchased at shop.nunaat.com.

Get Picture-Perfect…Fast!

March 30th, 2010

We all want to look great in photos, but bad lighting and less-than-stellar makeup application can make you look less movie-star chic and more teenage geek. Luckily for us, there are makeup artists out there willing to share their secrets with us mere mortals.

Amy Keller Laird at Allure’s Daily Beauty Reporter learned these trips from Stephanie Vazquez, East Coast Sephora artistry trainer for Smashbox:

1) To remove redness under your eyes, dab eye primer (like the one shown above) right along your lower lash line. It does this job well since it’s developed to cover up veins and mottled tones.

2) When using a bright blush shade, dust it on with a fan brush—the fluttery bristles diffuse the color so it doesn’t look clownish.

3) Apply cream or gel eyeliner with an angled brush. This way, you don’t have to contort your hand to draw a straight (or winged) line properly—the brush does it for you.

4) For thick, dense lashes, first brush one coat of mascara over the top side of your upper lashes, then sweep it on as you normally would.
